Food Poisoning Claims at Hotel Complex

A number of customers claim to have contacted enteric disease from the consumption of food/water at an hotel during 2002. My report considers whether, on the balance of probabilities, there was any indication of a breach in food/water standards that may have resulted in customers contracting gastric illness during their stay at the hotel.
Chilli Powder Adulterated with Sudan Dyes

A large number of food products have had to be withdrawn from sale during 2003-2004 because of the illegal adulteration of chilli powder with the textile dyes, Sudan I-IV, imported from India. Companies are in the process of obtaining compensation.
Benzene Contamination of Carbonated Drinks
Client/Sponsor: Solicitor; Drinks Manufacturer

Date: 1998 - 2001
Manufactured carbon dioxide gas was contaminated with benzene and this was used to carbonate beverages resulting in a major product withdrawals by a number of companies. My reports considered aspects of supplier assessments, hazard analysis and quality management. Evidence was presented at the High Court of Justice before the Hon Mr Justice Tomlinson who wrote in his judgement “Mr Joyce was an excellent witness......”.
