An Industrial/Environmental Auditing strategy for Egypt was developed as part of an ODA funded project for the Egyptian government.

Water contamination

A bottled mineral water producer in the Republic of Georgia was experiencing problems with microbiological contamination of the product. The problem was traced to a build-up of microbial biofilms in tanks and the pipeline which brought the water several kilometres from the government controlled bore-holes. Advice was given on remediation measures and staff were trained in the use of the Biotrace luminescence technique to rapidly monitor contamination in the field. A quality assurance programme was subsequently designed for the company.
